FÁILTE
Ba mhaith linn fáilte ó chroí a chur romhaibh ar fad chuig brainse Chraobh na Mara. Táimid ag súil go mór le haithne a chur oraibh agus le bheith ag obair le chéile chun an ceol traidisiúnta a chur chun cinn i dtuaisceart Átha Cliath.
We would like to extend a heartfelt welcome to you all to Craobh na Mara CCÉ. We are looking forward to getting to know you all and working together to promote traditional Irish music in Balbriggan.
In 2021, we received a grant from Fingal County Council/Creative Ireland to facilitate an instrument rental scheme for beginners.
We have had a great response to our Rental Scheme for Uilleann Pipes, Button Accordions, Harps, Concertinas, Flutes and Fiddles. As a result, we have added additional classes for all of these instruments.

NEW GRÚPA CEOIL
We are delighted to announce a new grúpa ceoil/ trad music band for our musicians. We will now have a half-hour long grúpa ceoil ensemble on Monday evenings from 6.30-7.00pm. This group is open to members/non-members. It is not necessary to take lessons in the branch to participate. The focus will be on group technique, repertoire and fun. This will be an opportunity for musicians to keep connected with music by playing regularly with their peers. There will also be performance opportunities for the group throughout the year. The first two weeks will be a free trial for students before signing up. The group is for experienced players and not suitable for beginners.
Members are invited to join our Whatsapp group. Please message +353 89 489 9773 to be added.
SCT EXAMS
Our students have an opportunity to participate in the SCT exams. The exams are annual graded exams in traditional Irish music. There are 12 levels from elementary to advanced performance. The exams consist of performing a selection of tunes to an experienced judge, some music theory and a discussion about the history, styles and players of traditional Irish Music . This begins at a very basic level. Registration may be done through the branch or you can also register online. Teachers can help chose a level. We are currently working the provision of theory for students who want to take the exams.
It is not necessary to take the sct exams and classes will continue as normal regardless. If you are interested, registration is strictly by January 31st. You can register by sending a private message through the contacts tab above or by emailing us on craobhnamara@comhaltas.net. The exams are generally held around April/May, usually in Clasach Clontarf. You can get more information about fees etc. here
